The Yahoo! Search open platform, SearchMonkey, was recently opened to application developers and site owners to allow them to tweak Yahoo! Search in innovative ways. The SearchMonkey Developer Challenge was also announced. A cool $10,000 prize awaits the Best in Show app, which will go to the “top banana” of the competition, selected by the panel of judges headed by Michael Arrington of TechCrunch. One winner from each of the four categories–Best Enhanced Result, Best Inforbar, Most Innovative Use of Structured Data, and Best Data Service–will receive a prize of $2,500. Developers can send multiple entries. The contest deadline is on June 14, 2008.
