Podcast had its beginnings in the proliferation of downloadable MP3 files and can be played on the iPod device. This encouraged users to share their music with others. They soon found out that they could create, upload, and download information not just music. So some users loaded various types of firmware to suit their demands. Furthermore, RSS feeds provided a way to generate machine-readable files, which could then exchange data between the servers and the users. Blogs also used RSS to keep their readers up to date on blog posts. Podcasting since then became another form to share files, and users began to view podcasting as a way to become virtual DJs. A software was then developed to check, link and download files. Podcasting grew to become a useful tool, by individuals who didn?t have iPods, but utilize podcasting as a technology for receiving music and entertainment over the Internet.
