API formats like Forums, Wikis and Blogs have definitely laid of the groundwork for much of today’s API developments. The idea of users being able to give feedback and suggestions in forms of applications isn’t that much incompatible than users giving comments in the form of online posts and threads. The only difference is that programmers of applications that implement API’s are in a way conducting research & development for the API owners and the R&D cost is derived from the maintenance of said API. Its a small price to pay for conducting Research and development and user test cases while building brand loyalty all at the same time.
